Hello, friends! long time no read. The one consistent thing this last year? Not posting on my blog. Life is about change, and I think especially as we age. Each year is a new frontier. There’s been a lot of change in my life, primarily in the form of a ridiculous amount of doctor visits, tests, and shaking what appears to be the old magic 8 ball for a diagnosis, try again it says, and so here we are. I wonder at times if I will ever be back to “normal” and then I remind myself I was never normal to begin with lol. Regardless of the struggles, I am so very blessed that God has gotten me through every trial. I am beyond thankful for my faith, my amazing hubs, family and friends. Love you guys!!!

As those who followed my blog know, each year I celebrate my birthday by buying a gown. It is so fun to get all glammed up to ring in the new year, and say goodbye to the last, capturing that special moment in time. Even more so now, as I truly cherish the milestones. For fun, I add the challenge to get it under $20, and my awesome hubs takes the photos with my phone. It’s a fun and inexpensive tradition that I highly recommend.

This year I went with a timeless style, and the price was a STEAL!

First of all, BIG thrifting tip, it’s important to look at sizes other than your own. This was tagged as a large for a size 7. The dress fits more like a 4. I can’t count how many great deals I have found over the years by looking in all sizes. Each brand can vary in fit, and racks are full of people putting things in the wrong sizes. I always scan the bottom of the rack to look for the fabrics or colors that pop out to me, instead of size. This dark navy & velvet beauty had that old glam style that I love, and for just $7.24, I couldn't go wrong.

Let’s talk about accessories and how something small can change the vibe of an outfit. The simple thin belt and jewelry are dainty but add just enough sparkle.

I always make sure to pair my birthday gown with fun heels! These rhinestone gladiators by Miss Lola are so pretty! The simple dress allows them to be the star of the show.

A white fur wrap adds the extra glam! Simple pieces make the birthday photos so memorable. Black and white photos are perfect for glam pix, they are so timeless.

Another year in the birthday books! I hope you will join me in this fun tradition! Birthdays are meant to be celebrated, and it doesn’t have to cost a lot. You will be all dressed up to go paint the town red or order in your favorite food and watch a movie, whatever you choose, you will look amazing doing it!
